Placebo effect for us is when our dogs, being familiar with the donation process, go ahead and lay down and get comfortable once the prep draw is complete and receiving only a "flush" dose vs sedation. We anticipate Sarah (at her next visit) to be joining Champ as the second pibble in our pay it forward program to be a sedation free blood donor in the Blue Pearl Veterinary Blood Bank program.

]]><![CDATA[Blood donations save lives]]>Tue, 12 Jul 2016 04:00:00 GMThttps://pibblesrescue.weebly.com/pay-it-forward/blood-donations-save-lives-lt3Today we got a notificatioin that our very own TIGGRRR (that's a T-I-double GGRRR) was saving a life with his most recent blood donation @ BluePearl. Unfortunately, we did not get approval to post the lucky recepient's photo BUT we can tell you the blood was used to help treat the small dog (less than 10#) for non-regenerative anemia. For Dogs, non-regenerative anemia (which is caused by a decrease in red cell production), the bone marrow response is inadequate when compared to the increased need and Dogs that become anemic quickly (especially when induced by trauma) may die because of the sudden loss in red blood cells and oxygen. Sarah is awake and on a reduced level of sedation @.02 today. Perfect stick by LaLania our vamp tonight.

Cocoa Beans wanted confirmation there would be cookies after donation.

Cocoa Beans could be awake for her donation since her sedation was under .02 BUT she chose to snore today.

Eventhough Champ no longer needs sedation to donate, he still feels he needs the puppy smelling salts (i.e.: cookies) to 'wake up'. Silly pibble!
