Petey (28.4kg) LOVES to donate.  Tonight he was so excited go meet his new vamp, Lalania, that he unexpectedly jumped from the doorway onto the table.  We are still trying to catch him doing this on video to post.  Tonight Petey's sedation dose was reduced again.

Picture

Lalania was immune to Cocoa Beans (23kg) charms.

Beans knows she wont be able to resist next time.

Picture

Sarah (25.8kg) was reminding Lalania that there is always time for kissing puppies when working on the donation schedule.

Picture
Champ (30.8kg) joined a small elite group of dogs that donate without sedation.  There are a handful of dogs who donate without sedation, however, Champ is currently one of only two pit bull type dogs that donate wtihout any sedation in our local Blue Pearl Blood Bank donation program.

Such a loooong journey this guy has taken. LOVE HIM SO MUCH <3

Chloe says if you are healthy, over 50#z, HW-, and between age 2-8... why not get screened to be able to pay it forward like pibbles do?  Every bag if blood saves THREE lives.  There is papers your furparent must fill out and some other silly restrictions may apply... I don't know really, I'm just a dog, BUT.... you should still give it the good old pibble try.

why so serious? kiss now? I halp.

Pibbles Pay it Forward

Your dog can help save lives and also donate to our charity to help save more lives.  If your dog is between the age of 2-8 years old, in good health, heartworm negative and over 50 lbs... your dog can get screened for blood donations at Blue Pearl.  If your dog is an approved candidate for blood donations you can also choose to have a $25 credit donated to the balance of Pibbles to the Rescue.

    Why Donate

Donated blood saves pets' lives.  For the same reasons sick or injured people often need blood transfusions that replace blood loss due to traumatic injury or surgery.  Transfusions also are used to treat animals whose blood systems are not functioning well.  Often, these are pets with diseases that attack their immune systems or diseases that prevent their blood from clotting normally--such as happens when pets and people suffer heat stroke.  Other common situations when blood products (blood or plasma) may be used are with critically ill patients with cancer, anemia, clotting problems, internal parasites, heat stroke, or traumatic blood loss (auto accident, bite wounds)

As well as fresh blood, in some circumstances, whole blood can be stored for anticipated usage or even divided into component parts and stored e.g. fresh frozen plasma. In the latter case, one donation can help two or three patients!
