Welcome to Pibbles to the Rescue!
Pibbles to the Rescue is a pitbull rehab & sanctuary exclusively for the Animal Control Officers of Hillsborough County Animal Services. Our current commitment is to the Hillsborough County Animal Services (HCAS) Investigational Kennels (IK) under the watchful eye and guidance of Pam Perry, Investigations Manager ( we pibbles do love her ! ).
We CAN NOT take in strays or owner surrenders because we provide protective custody for active court cases. Pibbles is assigned dogs from HCAS IK, provides them the best diet we can afford, gives time for a detox, obedience training, socialization, house training, we address any issues that present in our care, then once the dog is ready.... we allow them to sponsor new dogs coming in to show what they have learned in our care and then proceed to not only find the dog the proper furever home, but when we can, we find our dogs jobs.More so, we are the rescue that takes the dogs from HCAS IK that have failed the temperament test but are Shelter favorites, Volunteer favorites, Staff Favorites or are just VERY special and need a little more time than the A.D.O.P.T. program has to spend on them. We are their only chance after the last chance to prove what they are really made of. Most of our dogs go on to fulfill jobs and get their AKC Canine Good Citizenship as well as land amazing, loving, pampered homes.
We also work to educate the general public about animal abuse and irresponsible breeding, promote the importance of responsible pet ownership, offer safety/pet education (including but not limited to spay/neuter). Pibbles will endeavor to one day help set up low cost/free options for management of animal health and wellness such as free spay/neuter clinics and shot clinics.
Pibbles is also hoping one day to be able to provide sanctuary to more dogs than we are currently able to provide for. For now, our short term goals are to afford equipment of our own to help speed up the recovery process in rehabilitation through exercise and training (i.e. agility equipment, frisbees, retrieval gear, harnesses, etc.) while saving the rescue expenses like class fees and gas for travel .
